Using Photoshop 7

Alright, for a while now, i have had a problem with my layers toolbar.. it used to have little pictures of the image i had open in the way they are (like, desaturated if i desaturated it, screened if i screened it ect..) and now its just a paint brush... see in my pic below, in the red circle?
Does anyone know how to switch it back? ive been trying forever with no luck, and searching the archives with no luck...
Also, i was wondering.. if you have a brush that is a jpeg and its black and white, is there any way to color it? I looked around in the archives for this as well, but i couldnt really find ne thing, and wasent sure exactly what i was looking for.. help would be very appreciated! :)
EDIT: Fixed the thumbnail in the pallete issue by accident :P Also fixed the jpeg brush problem.. thanx for the help all!
