'Kinda Insane' Tutorial
Below is a tutorial for the below icon titled "Kinda Insane" by myself,
doublexross or otherwise known as
angeleyes699.

I started with a capped image from the Charlie and the Chocolate factory, found in the community
cap_it, cropped and resized it to a 100x100 sized base.

Next I did what I usually do to an image, I sharpened it and then duplicated the base layer, set the duplicated layer to Soft Light at 100%, then desaturated the Soft Light layer by pressing Ctrl+H and setting it to -100. I then added a new layer between the base layer and Soft Light layer.

I flood filled the new layer with the above colour #000040 and set it to exclusion at 100%.

For the next step I added the above gradient, above the Soft Light layer and set it to Lighten at 50%.
Here comes the magic, I added the below base by
dearest and set it to Overlay at 100%, I then flipped and mirrored the base for the circular shape on the base to blend with the background of the image. I usually experiment with the bases I use to see which fits best with the image. I may have used the rubber tool around the face too.

Then I added a border brush, I don't use them often because I believe the icons work well without borders.

The border brush was used on a new layer, colour #FFFFFF
For the text, I colour picked a blue/green colour from the icon and added the text (at what size really depends) "Kinda Insane" using Perpetia Titling where the white area in the background of the icon is.
I hope that helped you, I'd love to see the attempts people have done using this tutorial.
