Hi this is my first tutorial here and at icon_tuts. It's a Tyra Banks icon, very simple but still pretty.
This tutorial is made with Adobe Photoshop 7.0 but you can try with something else.
1. I took this pic of Tyra and cropped it down to make the icon.
2. Next I use the rectangular marquee tool and go around her eyes. Right click and click Layer via Copy.
3. Now click on the arrow on the toolbar in the top right corner and move the place where you copied her eye to a corner.
4. Then click on layer 2.
Make sure your cursor is hovered over layer 2. Hold down the CTRL button and click 'A' on your keyboard.
5. We're going to be adding a border to it. After that click on edit>stroke. For my settings I had:
6. Press ok. Then deselect by pressing CTRL+d.
7. Then I made a new layer. Layer>new>layer.
8. Now paste this brush over your new layer. This brush is from
anesthezea
Set your blend mode to screen 80%.
9. Then I added some text on top. YOu can add whatever text you like and got this:
