Tutorial - Silhouettes
I just happened upon this while messing around with Image Masks tonight so I thought I would share.
How to go from this:

to this in PS CS:
::
First you need to choose a picture that has a lot space available that can be highlighted when using the magic wand, without interferring with the picture on the whole. I choose Emma Watson and cropped it down.
Circled is the magic wand tool, which this should carry over to PS7, I will check later. I am not so sure about PSP.
So after you have chosen your image to use this method on follow the next steps:

After this last step just add whatever text you want and you are done. :) I just wrote Emma on there, because it was a first time messing with it but I thought it was interesting at least :)
Hope you enjoy
Hope it helps someone! :)
It's kind of odd to have the strap of her shirt highlighted too, but honeslty I found it made it much more appealing.
Edit:
I added a background to separate the silhouette from the yellow...there was just too much yellow. ;)
Edit::
I opened up an icon texture I had sititng around, by
dearest
I entered into the quickmask mode (thanks
coresti for showing me this method) after I dragged the background layer. **Make sure that the background layer is on top of all other layers -- make it invisible for the time being**
So we enter quickmask mode shown here: (there might be an easier way but I prefer this method)

You can use the eraser tool to clean up the edges a little.
Next: You will see the animated ants, so now go to SELECT-->INVERSE so the animated ants surround the yellow area.

Now make the top layer (our texture) visbile once again. Seen below.

You will have the animated ants outlining the texture covering the yellowed area, now go back to
SELECT-->INVERSE once again so that the area over Emma is selected.
Making sure that the Texture layer is highlighted on the layer palette, press delete and you should see only emma and the texture.
Press Ctrl+D to deselect the area and you will see just Emma and the texture.
Now, click on the layer with Emma and then use the magic want on the area with the texture. Once the area is highlighted, press the layer mask button like in the steps above and then customize from there. ;)
Don't forget to blur the edge a little so that the silhouette doesn't look so hard...:)
