Question about memories

I definitely apologize in advance for this question. I know it might seem a bit dumb, but I figured you all would be able to help me. This has nothing to do with programs or how to achieve certain effects. Rather, it's a question about searching and browsing through memories.
Whenever I go to search through tutorials, I have no idea what to search for, or how to search for a topic. What is the best way to search through memories for past tutorials and questions? Should I search by subject? I've noticed that a lot of people dont use subjects, so when I search through them, I have a very difficult time finding what I need. I would just like to know the best (and preferably the easiest) way to search through memories, rather than ask "Where can I find...?" each time I need a tutorial.
