Mandy Moore Icon Tutorial
We'll be going from
to
using PSP7.
Okay to start things off, this is my first icon tutorial so don't throw things if I mess up, lol.
To start off with, here is my image of the beautiful Miss Mandy Moore.

I've resized it down to 100x100 and placed it where I wanted it to be on the icon.
Duplicate your base layer and set the blend mode to Screen. I also sharpened this layer once.

Now go back down to your base and duplicate it once, set the blend mode to Soft Light and de-saturate the layer. Bring it up to the top and merge your layers. It should look like this.

So now we've got one merged layer, it's time to apply gradients and light textures.
I'm taking the following light texture and adding it on as a new layer. I set the blend mode to Lighten.
+
=
Now I'm adding a pretty purple/pink gradient on top of everything for the finishing touch. Set the blend mode to Lighten.
+
=
And we're done! Hope it wasn't too confusing. If there are questions just ask and I'll do my best to help.
