I'll say this is my first tutorial. Made in Photoshop 7, but it's pretty simple, so it shouldn't be too hard to translate.
We'll be making this. :]
I started with this picture of Elton John (my hero!). I cropped it, resized it, contrasted it just a little, and sharpened the image.

Duplicate the base, and set it at Screen, 70%.

I filled a new layer with a dark blue (#151B3C) and set it at Exclusion.

Filled another new layer with a pretty lavender (#ECD6ED), set at Multiply.

I put this gradient (I'm not sure who made it, but it was probably
crumblingwalls) on a new layer and set it to Pin Light.

I pasted this base (by
colorfilter) on top and sharpened it. I set it to Screen at 35% opacity.

Using the eraser at 9 pt, I erased the base on Elton's head and body except for the patterned bar on the side. I also erased a little bit of space at the top to make room for text.

In Arial, white, 4 pt, 300pt tracking, I typed "A LOT OF SONGS TO SING".

That didn't look quite bright enough, though, so I duplicated the text layer, but I set the color of the top layer of text to a nice purple-ish (#B3AFC8).

Fin! Comments and criticism are appreciated. :)
