Grab your image >> crop to 100x100 >> sharpen >> smooth the icon out if wanted. I used these settings for the soften tool in PSP.



I zoom in and smooth out everything but her hair, eyes, and mouth.



I duplicate the icon 4 times and have the all of the layers blend modes on screen >> change the top layer to soft light and then go to >> Adjust >>Hue and Saturation>> >>Hue/Saturation/Lightness and have your settings like this: Hue: -180 ; Satuartion: 0 and Lightnes:: 0

Make a new layer and fill it in with a creamy color like: #EDE2CD and set the blend mode to multiply.



I add a texture from here

Set blend mode to screen >> select part of the face like this >> and go >> Selections >> Modify >> Feather >> 23pixels

I now press Ctrl x >> that cuts out some of the texture , but very softly. Ctrl D to deselect and merge layers.



Now take another texture from here resize it 30 and paste on the icon.



Now I write my text in white >> CAC Pinafore font >> 10 pixels
