Help needed

Im not sure whether anyone can help me with this or not, I use PSP 9 and recently when Ive attemped to use the Gaussian Blur tool, my program just stops! If I go to the systems manager menu, it doesnt say "not respondin" or anything, just nothing happens on the program and it makes that annoying thump/bleep noise. Anyone know how to cure my PSP of its terrible disease, I fear that it may be incurable *sobs*
