Clear Gel Text
Not necessarily for icons (Those are a *bit* too small, but you can use your imagination) but something interesting nonetheless. This tutorial is rather image-heavy. I have circled in red the parts to make sure you have completed. I explained it fairly well (In my opinion) so even people new to Photoshop should be able to do it.
We'll be trying to get a clear gel-like text effect, like here
1. Let's start with any old image. For this, it doesn't really matter so I'm just using

2. Type something on the image in white (Although it does work with other colours, it works best with white. You can go and tint it pale pink or blue etc if you so wish). Because there are going to be a decent amount of effects on the text, the font should be fairly wide and/or big.
Your image should be something like:

3. Right-click on your text layer and go to Blending Options. Make sure you're at Custom (Right at the top). Put blend mode to Multiply. You will not see your text, and this is normal.
Your image should be something like:
4. Click on "Inner Shadow". Turn your blend mode colour to white (/other pale colour of your choice, but keep consistent) and turn down the opacity to 40%.
Your image should be something like:
5. Click on "Inner Glow". Turn your blend mode colour to white again (/other), and put the opacity level at about 30%
Your image should be something like:
6. Click on "Bevel and Emboss". Put your depth to about 330 and put "Soften" to about 3. Make sure your "Shadow Mode" is set to white.
Your image should be something like:
7. Click on "Drop Shadow". Put your opacity to about 40. Keep the blend mode at black.
Your image should be finished now, and have clear, gel-like text on it:
Ta-da! Easy!
MANY things in this tutorial are optional (Such as Step 5 and Step 7) as well as highly customizable. Opacities, depths, and colours can be changed to fit your needs. If you want text that has less white in it so that you see through it more, just lower the opacities of all of the blending options. If you want it to be flatter, lower the depth in Bevel and Emboss. It's just a fun effect to play with.
Hope you liked it, it was my first tutorial (>__o) so I hope it was ok and I explained stuff all right. Feedback is appreciated!
