Youth-ifying pix?

I've been playing with ways of making older people look less wrinkled, puffy and haggard. Using the smudge and/or blur tool in PS works well for wrinkles, but I'd love to hear what techniques people use to eliminate under eye bags in particular. I've tried flattening the image, lassoing the bag and filling it with a lighter color from a different part of the face then smudging, but it doesn't look natural. What techniques do you use to make people look more youthful? I'd love to hear.
