Tutorial

Here's my first contribution to the community. This tutorial was made for Photoshop CS, though I'm sure it's easily transferable. It's also a really simple tutorial, as I'm a beginner myself, and takes only a few minutes to make. No brushes, textures, or anything else!

You're going from this image of actress Scarlett Johansson to this: in five easy steps.

1. Start with the base image, resize and crop. Unfortunately, this image has a watermark, so I had to avoid that and crop just above it. Sharpen the image (Filter -> Sharpen -> Sharpen).

2. Duplicate the base, and set it to Soft Light.

3. Create a new layer (Ctrl + Shift + N), and then flood-fill (shift + F5) it with the color #001a3d, and set the layer to Exclusion.

4. Create another layer, and flood-fill it with color #b08e5c, set to Multiply at 60%.

5. Flatten the entire image. Use the rectangular marquee tool to make a border in #001a3d. Add text. I used Copperplate Gothic Light, color white, size 9 for the word SCARLETT and size 2 for the words beneath, which simply say SCARLETT JOHANSSON.

That's it! Easy as pie.
