Animated Lighting

Hi all, I was wondering if anyone had a tutorial on how to create animated lights (e.g. lightning outside a window) or a pulsing glow? I've checked the Archive and couldn't find anything. Thank you for your help! Oh yea, I use Photoshop+ imageready 7& CS and Paintshop Pro 8 and animation shop 3.
