Simple Ewan McGregor Icon Tutorial

Go from this: to this:



I use Photoshop CS, but this should be easily translatable.

I started with this image.

I cropped and resized it to this:

Then I added this brush by squarefaces and set it to Multiply.

Now you'll have this:

Duplicate your base layer. Desaturate the bottom one. Then, using the eraser tool, erase the colored layer outside the circles. This is what it looks like now:

Select another area of the picture. I chose his face.

Move that layer until it is under the small circle. Like this:

Erase the parts of the smaller picture that are outside the circle. Now it looks like this:

If you want you can add textures or gradients. I chose to add a little bit of text, in a very small size. My ending product is this:
