Good quality black and white images?
I checked the memories and couldn't find anything that answered my question, so here goes:
Does anyone know how to make a good quality black and white image/icon? The three methods I know (black color layer/desaturating image/setting mode to grayscale) tend to leave the icon looking grainy and flat, even if the icon has been sharpened, smoothed, screened and soft lighted to within an inch of its life.
The thing is, I'm seeing other icons in grayscale that somehow do it wonderfully, with perfect clarity and sharpness. There must be another way!
