Warped Text

My first tutorial!

Okay, a friend asked me how I got the text on this icon Image hosted by Photobucket.com to follow the curve like that.

So I made her a mini tutorial I thought I'd share.

I use PhotoShop CS, I don't know if this is translatable if you use another type of program. Just 7 images and easy explanation.

Okay, first your icon base, I just did a simple curved heart brush for this one.

rotate your icon, and add text:

curve your text with the normal arch 'warp text' at 35% or however is best for your icon.

Now it's the tricky part. Select the text and hit your ctrl key. A box with 8 points should appear surrounding your text.

Hold your mouse over one of the points (little square blocks) on the middle of one of the lines (circled in red below), not the edges. It will turn into a little grey arrow (not the black one, it will just move the text). As you move your mouse, the text warps. Any of the four middle points will warp the text, just play with them until it's right. Make sure that before you warp the text you have the font you want and the around the size you want it (warping will alter font size). If you change the font afterwards, you'll have to adjust the warp.

You get this:

then rotate again, and voila!
