A Simple Color Effect-PSP 9
Today I'm going to show how I got this color effect in PSP 9

Especially for icon newbies =)
And I did it in 5 steps!
Well, Here I am again! I've learned so much from this community. I thought of giving back again.
I'm not sure if this has been done before but this one is pretty simple.
So here we go:
This is what I had at first:
Jen
I cropped it down to eliminate parts I didn't want. Then resized it to the standard icon size, 100x100.
I usually do the text first before other things. So I picked font Blackladder ITC at 10 pt and because I'm a huge Jen fan and couldn't think of anything witty, "She's all that" (I bet you're more creative than me). Then I hit Luminance for the blend mode where it usually says Normal, just to make it a bit see-through. Position close to the side so it would look cut off.
Right click the text layer and choose New raster layer. Click the bucket icon or the floodfill tool and fill it with this color #f49bfd. Set the blend to Color(L) then turn down the opacity to 48.
I used this light texture.
Don't remember where it came from; I have so many of them. Just check my userinfo for credits if you think its yours.
Anyway, I hit Ctrl L or Paste as New Layer. Change the blend to Darken at 50 opacity.( Now that's a blend mode I don't see being used often).
Go back to base layer and duplicate it. Edit: You have to change the blend to soft light at 36 opacity.
I made another new layer and applied a brush from dj43 at 100x100 brushes just for decoration. Size 67, Step 32 and leave other settings intact.I had to erase the tail part because that won't look good. You probably want to use a differnt brush, though but I'll post it if you're interested.
Last but not least, I took the pen tool, set the width to 2 px, the color to white and drew a straight line by clicking from side to side around the four corners of the icon to make the border.
And there you have it!
A tip: Don't limit yourself to completely following icon tutorials. Use your creativity.Make your icons look original by playing around with the settings, textures and brushes. Use brushes sparingly, though.
