Tutorial
RULES: You can take the icon I made. You can pass it off as yours. You
can manipulate it into whatever you want. I can't stop you. However, it would be nice if you commented.
How to get from
to
NOTE BEFORE YOU START: keep flattening the layers like there's no tomorrow.
I am using this picture:

I love the whole band, but not as much as I love Chris Martin, so I crop his face to 100x100.

Now you do all those little things you need to do, like sharpen the
image, smooth the face, blur the background, (we don't want Jonny, we
just want Chris, right?), etcetera.
You get this:

Now you duplicate the layer and blend it in Vivid Colour (opacity 10%):

Now, do what else you want with the picture. People like blending
stuff in Screen, and although it's very useful, I don't like using it
too much.
Now you insert these textures by
spaceyme (for future reference, all my textures are by that user):

Blend it in Pin Light, Opacity 75%.

Hard Light, Opacity 20%
Go to Image > Adjustements > Colour Balance... Mess around until
you like what you have. I added some cyan and magenta to mine,
and got this:

Screen, Opacity 78%, Fill 89%
Then you add text. I added his name in Pushkin, size 12, and from
Bleding options chose Drop Shadow. The small text is done in
Times New Roman, size 4 and says something really dirty.
Here you go. It would be really nice if your posted you icon so I see if you made any sense of my tutorial.
