Basic tutorial on Adobe Photoshop CS2 Version 9.0

I'm really new at this and I'd love to tame the strange beast that is this programme! I'd love to learn how to make my own icons and all that, but it seems with the help I've got, that this Photoshop is new.
I'd appreciate a point in the right direction if you already have to posted it somewhere and I'm so open to help, I wouldn't mind it. :-D Thanks!
