A very simple colour tutorial for PS7...
... for beginners like me. I love this gentle old fashioned effect. We'll be taking the lovely Mr Mortensen from

The original pic is this - taken at the ROTK press conference. I cropped and sharpened it once and now had this;

I duplicated my cropped and sharpened image three times. The first two I set to multiply at 100% opacity, the third (top) one, I desaturated and set to screen at 75% opacity and 90% fill.
Then I made a new layer [shft+cntrl+N] and added this texture [can't remember where I got this - anyone recognise it? - ETA - by
spaceyme - from this collection.]

I set it to hue at 100% opacity
Next, I made another new layer, took my rectangular tool and made a 20x100 rectangle (surprise, surprise) at the right border in a cream - #ffffec - this I set to 30% opacity. Now the icon looks like this

Finally, I made another new layer and added a scribble brush [from
teh_indy's doodle set] resized to 30 in #ffffec and added some tiny text [Arial black 1pt in #ffffec].
And there you have it. From bright and blue to even easier on the eye.
