Icon Tutorial
Tutorial for this icon:

(in PS but easily translated)
I started off with this picture
Cropped, sharpened and all that jazz to get this base:

I duplicated the base twice. Set the first one to screen. For the second one I desaturated it (ctrl+shft+u) and set it to soft light.

I got this gradient from detoxcoctails

set it to screen at 75%
then took another gradient from
detoxcoctails

set it to overlay at 55%
Then I duplicated the desaturated, soft-light layer of the base and set it on top of all my other layers at 35%
Created a new layer. Flooded it with #A7366A and set it to screen at 25%
This is what it looks like:

Then I took another gradient from
detoxcoctails

this is where I decided to change it up a bit.
with my rectangular marquee tool, I selected sections of the gradient and deleted them, leaving out the middle and a strip on the bottom (creating like an upside-down t)
this is what it looks like on white:

set that to saturation
then i took another gradient by the same user

did the same deleting thing...there's probably an easier way to do it but oh well.

set it to vivid light at 35%
4 more gradients (just leave these normal)
- vivid light 20%
- color 25%
- overlay 100%
- saturation 30%
then create a new layer and fill it with black
delete the same sections you deleted before on those 2 gradients

set it to color at 55%
This is what we have:

take this texture
(if you know who made it please let me know)

set it to color burn
duplicate the desaturated soft-light base again and set it on top at 35%
here's the icon so far:

we obviously need some borders
create a new layer
select the same sections again and use a 2px stroke in white
erase the borders on the edges and stuff so the lines are like this:

then I used this text brush (by
chouchoune)

I duplicated it and played with it a little adding a shadow etc. and that's that!
finished product:

I'd love to see what everyone came up with!
:)
