Tutorial - Bright/Clear

Tutorial #1 - The Brandon Icon

I've recieved a lot of questions asking about how I get my icons to be so clear/bright/sharp. Luckily, I saved the PSP file for the icon that was fairly popular.

Hopefully this tutorial is easy to follow and helps you a bit - it's merely for reference. You can copy it exactly if you'd like, it's not like this is some patented technique. You can always play with the opacity of the layers to create darker/brighter icons.

I'm using Paint Shop Pro 8, I'm sure it can be tweaked for other programs such as PhotoShop. I'm going to assume that you have a basic knowledge of whatever paint program you are using.

I also make icons in a very wayward way, shuffling layers and whatnot, so I've tried to make this simple enough to follow. If you don't understand something feel free to comment and I'll try to help you out.

Anything that's a link leads to a picture in case you're unsure of what I'm talking about. I'm sure that's going to happen a lot. ;)

(Onto the Tutorial!)
