Capturing with WMP10
I have been trying all afternoon to do screencaps from Windows Media Player. I've gone through the tutorials here and at capit and haven't been able to figure it out.
I have PowerDVD 5.5 that came with my dell, it doesn't have capping abilities. In WMP10 I look under view>dvd features, but there is no capture function listed. So in both programs I tried using the print screen method and pasted them into PSP8. A couple issues here: 1) If the dvd is playing, the image on the pasted print screen is playing too. 2. when pasted into PSP, the windows do not appear at the same size as they are open to, so the cover part of the movie image. Then if I try to crop or select only the movie part, it ends up shifting and covering up the image. I have slid the acceleration bar to off on the option screen and it doesn't make a difference.
I have tried the screen capture features in PSP8 and Irfanview and niether works there. Irfran view blacks out the dvd image, and psp doesn't cap the movie at the size displayed on my screen.
I have also tried bsplayer, which doesn't play dvds. I don't like the idea of copying a movie to my hard drive just to cap it.
Is there any suggestions people can make? Does Screen Resolution matter? mine is 1280x1024. Does WMP9 work better for capping movies? Or is there another free program that plays dvd and will cap them? Just got this computer, so I don't have the money to buy a full version of Powerdvd or WinDvd.
