Mod Notes
Hi gang!
I'd like to extend a welcome to all the new members; this community usually has a big growth spurt in June and December, when school terms let out, hehe. It's good to have you all.
I would like to issue a few reminders to all members, new and old.
First, please, please familiarize yourself with the community rules and the posting guidelines before you post. They'll help you and they'll help everyone else too.
Second, I'd like to remind you all to use the memories before you post. I understand that the archive is large and daunting, but there's a guide that will teach you how to use them. In addition, always check the FAQ Post first. If your question begins with "where can I find" or "how can I use," I guarantee at least the beginning of your answer will be there.
Third, I'd like to remind you of one of our major rules: be respectful towards all other members. This is an important one, and it goes many ways. If you're asking a question, respect entails looking in the FAQ first to make sure that you don't waste other people's time. If you're responding to a post, this means being polite and courteous to the original poster, not ripping him/her down. This rule is important all around.
Fourth, the purpose of the community is to teach you how to make your own icons. This includes components: gradients, brushes, screencaptures, and the rest. "How can I make," or "how can I install," or "how can I use" is an appropriate question (and is covered in the FAQ). "Where can I find" is not. Don't be lazy; do your own work. That's what it's all about.
Fifth, we may be transitioning to tags in the future but for now we're still using the memories. Tags can be hard to edit for the person who didn't make the post (me) and easy to edit by the person who did make the post (everyone else) and with an archive as extensive as ours it could be a real problem. I'm working it out but in the meantime our system works fine.
If you have any comments or questions, this is the thread in which to ask. After thinking about it, I've decided to screen comments to this post, so you don't have to worry about anything you say; only I can see it.
Thanks, gang. keep
