Stroke for Photoplus :/

Howdy all, I've been lurking around here for a while and I've noticed that certain members make very good use of the stroke tool in Photoshop. Being a poor student I'm working with Serif Photoplus 6 (essentially a poor man's photoshop). Annoyingly I can't find a tool to get the stroke effect... I've tried using drop shadow to create a glow but it isn't the right look. I've looked in the archives but there's no help for Photoplus users :(. I'd really appreciate any help - thanks guys!
