Hi all! I'm brand new here, and brand new to making icons. My skills are VERY limited as of yet, but I'm hoping to get better as time goes on. Anyway, I've been having trouble with textures lately. I love using them, but they seem to drown out the original picture whenever I use them, and I'm not sure of how to make the picture the way it was in the beginning instead of having a texture pattern over it...if that makes any sense at all. I know there's a way of doing this, but I'm just not aware of it. Here are some examples of what I'm looking to achieve.



I'd like the picture to be clear like that, without the texture pattern going over the body. I'd like the texture to stay in the background. Any detailed tips on how to do this?
