Blend Tutorial

This is my first tutorial and someone once said that the worst way to start was with a blend, but I'm reckless, so whatever. Anyways, learn how to make this blend on Paint Shop Pro 9 (can be easily translated into other PSP's and PS):

Now, this isn't the only way to do a blend. There are several ways! Play around!

First, create a new file. Make it 500 pixels wide by 300 pixels high (whatever size you want, I picked this size). Make the background black. Then copy and paste the three images into this space and position them however you want. Here's what it looks like now to me:

So you can see I picked the Prisoner of Azkaban posters for Harry, Ron and Hermione.

Now, remember that if you need to sharpen, soften, crop or fix or whatever you need to do to the picture to make it look neater, do it to each poster on it's own. I won't do it now, but the finished product was fixed.

Now, make a rectangular selection down the edge of the Harry (middle) poster. Now here's what I see:

Do the same on the other side of the poster by holding the shift button down while you draw the selection. Then go to Selections>Modify>Feather:

Another window will open. It will look like this:

I put the Number of pixels down as 60. Now, delete the selection by pressing the 'Delete' key on your keyboard. You will have to do this several times to get the desired effect. Do it until there isnt a visible line to define the edge of the picture. It should look like this once you've done it:

De-select the image (Selections>Select None)

You could leave it at that if you wanted to, but I think the blend just needs some playing around with, so I flatten the layers (Layers>Merge>Merge All (Flatten)). Then, duplicate the layer.

Once you're on the duplicated layer, colourize it.

Now, you can choose any colour you want for this. I'm going to use: (Hue: 20, Saturation: 100).

It should look like this:

Now, to be fair, that looks fine. But, I just always want to go a few steps further, I'll continue. You can leave it at that, whatever you want. I'm going to duplicate it again, motion blur the top layer (at strength 10 angle 270), and add some blinds (colour: white, opacity: 15, both horizontal and vertical). You can do anything you want to make it more interesting. Overlay makes it look very weird, and in a good way! I added a border to finish it off. This is my result:

I want to credit http://www.syndarys.net for teaching me how to blend. If it wasn't for them, I wouldn't be making this tutorial, but instead, going crazy looking for one.
