how to go from this to this

all done in psp 7 but should be the same in other programs



first we have our image already resized

go to Layers>Duplicate and do this twice

make sure the top layer is active

then go to Effects>Blur>Gaussian Blur and set it to 2.00 like this

then you should end up with this

then go to the layer palette and select overlay on the top layer like this



your image should now look like this

click layer two to make it the active layer.

now go to Colors>Adjust>Channel Mixer and make sure your settings look like this

now it should look like this

go to Layers>Merge All(Flatten)

then add any other effects or text you would like to you icon

and we end up with this

play around with it,changing the opacity of the top layer will change the finished outcome
