Question about translating a tutorial from PS/IR to PSP/AS

I'm reading the smoke tutorial, and I'm trying to duplicate it in PaintShop Pro and Animation Shop. The tutorial says tween, which is an IR transition, but fiddling with the transitions in AS3 is not giving me the same effect. Does anyone know what I should be doing, besides looking to switch from PSP/AS to PS/IR?
