Icon Tutorial: Huckapoo Style
I've made many icons of this style, but I like this one best, so I thought I'd share how I made it with you. It's quite simple. I made it in PSP 8 but it's easily transferable to PS.
Make this:
1. Okay, first I got this image of the very cool Brooke Anne Mori (aka: PJ Bardot in Huckapoo). Obviously, it wasn't this size, I cropped it and resized it to 100x100

2. I didn't do much to the quality of the pic, it looked fine to me. I did duplicate it though and minimized one for further use. Next I added this texture (I don't know who made it, if you do know, please tell me 'cos I love it!) I duplicated it so I had the texture 4 times, each one set on screen opacity 100, and flipped two of them so that the texture covered more of the icon

3. It was way too pale, so I duplicated the original picture, and pasted it on top of everything else at softlight opacity 100

4. Now that I was happy with my base, I was ready to get on with the greyscale copy that's on the left hand side. I merged what I had so far and minimized it. Then I opened the duplicated original and used the desaturate tool so that it was completely greyscale. Out of habit, I duplicated it and set it to softlight (it looks better in my opinion)at opacity 100. I added a 1 pixel white border

5. I opened the minimized image that I had added textures to, and pasted the greyscale picture on top and positioned it until I liked it.

6. Next, I merged the whole thing, and duplicated it. I cut two 23x23 boxes from Brooke's face and added a 1 pixel white border to each. I added these to my icon and positioned them near the bottom, infact one so far down it was half off the icon lol

9. I merged the image and then just to finish off, put some text in Times New Roman, size 2, kerning 1000. I think I just typed something like 'PJ Bardot Rocks My Socks' but it doesn't matter because you can't really read it...

Finished! Feel free to ask questions, and comments on the tut are appreciated!
