a perfect base - adobe ps
a perfect base......something we all look for...
well, here's a tutorial on how to make a perfect base without much trouble....
ok...firstly...you need to know adobe ps basics...
i jsut got myself a cs2 but i think nothing is different
so here ya go:
1. Romola Garai perfect base - high quality screencap - good lightening, sharp enough
here's the pic

a) crop it holding Shift key and resize to 100x100 px

b) Filter/Sharpen/Sharpen

c) now, use zoom it to like 500-600%, and using the blur tool, strength set to 40 and size 7, go over her skin, avoiding nise holes, eyes, lips, hair...everything that might be ruined by blurring
zoom out to 100% and you'll get the porcelain skin effect

d) now, duplicate the base and set it to screen, opacity may vary due to the picture light, so you'll have to get the right amount of opacity...
heer are some examples
opacity 100%
<<<<<<<<< TOO LIGHT (although it can be used for making a very cool icon, btu for standard icons it's way too light)
opacity 15%
<<<<<<<<< TOO DARK...why did you even put the layer on screen if it's barely visible?
opacity 45%
<<<<<< i call this opacity...THE PERFECT OPACITY....now it really depends on how dark or light yourpicture is but i use this the most....
soooo after the screen thing i have this
< yes it's a 45%
e) then you merge layers, and copy the base you get again
set the duplicate to soft light, opacity 100%, but it still can vary!!!!
f) and desaturate
voila...my perfect Romola base

2. Ian Somerhalder perfect base - low quality screencap - dark, blurry
here's my screencap
ok, so a-c is always on repeat, open pic, crop, resize, sharpen, blur....
d) duplicate the base, set to screen, opacity 100%, desaturate

e) now that does it good, but i wasn't satisfied with the lightening, so i copied the ORIGINAL base again, and set that one to screen too, keeping teh desaturated one on top

f) now merge everything and then copy the new base, desaturate and set it to soft light
voila again...a perfect ian base

so there you ahve it....it's pretty much teh same process for every pic, a little bit of sharpening, blurring, screening and soft lighting.....
bgty :) and lemme know if you ahve problems amking thebase out of your pic...i'll be glad to help, or even make one for you
