My First Icon Tutorial!

We are going from this: to this:




Ok, here’s my first attempt at making a tutorial. So, here it goes.

First, I start out with this pic:



Then, I went to FILTER>>SHARPEN>>SHARPEN to make the picture look a bit better. I get this:



Next, go to LAYER>>NEW LAYER and press ok. Next, add a gradient of this color:



and set it as DARK BURN at 45%. So far, you should have something similar to this:



Am I right? Ok, next, add a new layer. Add this gradient:



and set it as DARK BURN at 45%. Yours, now, should look somewhat like this:



Ok, next, you can copy a portion of your picture, by using the Rectangular Marquee Tool. Copy and paste it into your picture and move it (using the Move Tool) to where you want it to go.

Then, go to your paths and create a new path. Then, use the stroke tool to outline the little portion of your pic. Then, do Ctrl + a to outline the whole picture and use the same stroke color (white) to outline the whole thing.



Now, it’s time to merge the layers. An add text.

(The white doesn't show up, but it is outlined in white) So, what'd you think?!
