Marcia Cross Icon for PS
My First Tutorial!
For this Icon...

Ok, we are going to go from this
to this
I use PS6, so I'm sure you guys with PS7 could easy adapt. No clue about PSP *shrugs*
Anyways I started with this pic of Marica, coz she looks so pretty-ful, and I love her Hair in this pic!

So I cropped the pic, moved it round a bit, then sharpened it!

Next I duplicated the pic of Marica twice, and erased everything but her hair, like I said, I love her hair in this pic, and decided that was gonnabe my main focus! I set both of the pics to Soft Light

Ok, now Marica's Hair is looking a bit burn't, so I duplicated her hair again, but this time set it to Screen, and I also added a Gaussian Blur to the radius of 1.1

Thats better, now her hair is looking very nice!
Now, I wanted to fix her skin and eyes and lips, because her hair is so vibrant, it kinda makes her features seem, well kinda dull.
First I dupilcated the base and placed it on top of everything, then erased everything but her face and neck, set that to Soft Light, then ran the blur tool over Marica's skin at 50%, just to give it a nice smooth look. I also played with Marcia's eyes a bit here.. Found a lovely shade of green and used the paint brush at 10% and applied it over her eyes, then just played with the Dodge and Burn tool to I got them how I liked them, I also used the burn tool on Marcia's lips.. In this step its just trial and error, and your own personal liking, so be bold!

Ok, now I used this texture, I have no idea whose it is.. I think I found it in other Tutorial, so If its yours speak up and I'll credit, coz it rocks!

Placed it on top of everything and set it to screen. The Blue didn't really match what I was going for, so I played with the hue/saturation
image - adjust - hue/saturation
and got it to a nice red/orange/yellow color

I used this texture next, I can't remember where I got this one either, but I'm sure the its credited on my info page

Place it over the top of everything, turned it to the left 90 degrees, then set it to screen. I also made sure the light was sitting right on the bottom of the icon, so you can just see it on the bottom..

I duplicated the top layer of Marcia's hair (the one set to screen and blurred) and placed that over the top of everything, but then changed it to soft light. (cause yes, I'm obsessed with her hair)

Okies, Text Time, I was unsure of what to put on this.. so if you feel the need, skip this step, its completely up to you! So I just went for something Basic, and wrote "Marcia" Font = Arial Black, Size = 19, color = Black, and set the space of the letters to 200. Then I rotated it so it sat on its side... 90 degrees to the left I think..

Ok, the Text is *way* to stand out-ish, so I took the 2nd texture again, placed over top of the text, Flipped it Horizontally, and set it to screen. Making sure that I place the light part of the texture right on the edge of the icon again.. I also used the eraser on the texture to erase where Marica's eyes are, so they didn't get the yellow glow..

And we are pretty much done! To finish off I took the base, duplicated it and placed it over the top of everything, then set it to soft light and desaturated it!

Yay! Now your finished! Remember play with it, be bold! Would love to see what you come up with, and I hope I didn't confuse anyone and it was easy to follow!
Cheers Guys
