Ok...a new tutorial....for achieving an interesting effect...

HOWEVER, you MUST know how to work with channels, selections and layers....it's a long and complex tutorial, and everyone should give it a try, but before you do (even though i do explain everything in detail) please look on some selections and channels tutorial....

Follow the cut
follow the steps carefully and you won't mess up
1. ok..open up your image (which has to be high quality, so no screencaps)

2. open up the channels window
- duplicate red channel
- duplicate red channel again
- duplicate green channel
- duplicate blue channel

3. now, select red copy channel
filters/stylize/find edges

then invert (ctrl+i)

4. select red copy 2 channel
repeat steps from 3.
5. select green copy channel
repeat steps from 3.
6. select blue copy channel
repeat steps from 3.
7. set red copy channel again
filters/stylize/wind
(choose wind, and from the right)
repeat 2 more times

8. set channel red copy 2
image/adjustments/levels
set the middle box to 0,5
you'll get this

9. set green copy layer and repeat steps from 8.
10. set blue copy layer and repeat steps from 8.
11. now holding the ctrl key set channel red copy 2
12. don't deselt anything, and set channel blue copy
select/load selection
choose these setts

13. set channel green copy and repeat steps from 12.
14. save selection
select/save selection
these setts

name it whatever you want but i find thsi real easy, teh important thing is that you DO name it
15. deselect
16. select rgb channel
17. in the layers palette make new layer, and fill it with white
18. now go back to channels palette and hit ctrl and select red copy channel

19. in layers palette set background layer again
20. copy crtl+c
21. set layer 1
22. paste ctrl+v

23. again, holding the ctrl key select the selection you've saved earlier (in my case outline)
24. set background layer
25. copy ctrl+c
26. set layer 2
27. paste ctrl+v
OPTIONAL
28. set layer 3 blending more to whatever you like
so there you ahve it...i haven't done the optional thing here but here's the result

hopefully you guys like it....i always thought it was kinda nifty :)
