PS7 & IR7: Static tutorial
hey kids. there was a few requests for a static tutorial w/ pics, so i obliged. its quite simple. here goes! we're going to be making something like this:

(sucks i know, but i was making this REALLY fast!)
We will be making this using Photoshop 7.0 and Image Ready 7.0.
1. ok, start with a new layer in a new document. fill it in with black by making the foreground color black and then go to edit>>black.
2. then go to Filter>>Noise>>add noise. choose these settings (you can play with them later if you want):

3. click ok :-)
4. create a new layer and fill it with black again. then go to Filter>>Noise>>Add Noise again. here are your new settings:

and click ok
5. repeat step 4 only your settings will look like this:

(i chose these randomly btw, so it really doesn't matter xD)
6. go to File>>Jump to>>Adobe Image Ready 7.0
7. ok, now set the current frame at a time for 0.1 seconds and declick the eye for layers 2 and 3. your sidebar should look like this:

8. duplicate the frame and declick the eye for layer 1 and click on the eye for layer two. your sidebar should now look like this:

9. getting this now? duplicate the frame again and declick the eye for layer two and click on the eye for layer 3. it should look like this now:

it should play like this now:
10. now we add our picture :-) you can cut out an image using the lasso tool (which ever you prefer using). i used to polygonial lasso tool to cut mine out. so this is Kurama from Yu Yu Hakusho. *drools* ^^;;;

i placed him in front and then picked a green color and filled a new layer with it. set the blending mode to "Screen". then I added a 2 px. border of the same green, but kept Kurama in front of it. your layer box will look like this now:

voila! all done. i know this is a crappy example. i kinda just threw it together. but you can also make icons like this:
or
you make this by putting that colorful background behind all of the "noise" layers, and setting the "noise" layers to overlay or soft light.
EDIT: to get the exact effect of my example icons above, you may need to change the Opacity Level to show the background of the icon better. you will need to do that to all of the "noise" layers. =3
this animation is fun b/c you can experiment the hell out of it. have fun!
