Icon Tutorial - Simple, using PS7

Hiya! I made this icon and I thought it was kind of cool, so I thought I'd use it to try my first ever tutorial! It's extremely easy to do, because I wanted my first tutorial to be easy to write.

Alrighty, first, you want to grab this screenshot taken from hermintage through cap_it



I cropped and resized to 100 x 100 to end up with



Now, duplicate the bottom layer three times and do the following:

Layer one - Image > adjustments > brightness/contrast and put the brightness down to the max amount (i.e. -98). Contrast should be set at 0. Keep the layer at normal, opacity at 100% You now have this



Layer two - Simply change the layer to screen, 100% opacity



Layer three - make this layer (should be the top layer now) soft light, and leave it at 100% opacity



Now, add the following texture, from detoxcocktails



Set the layer to multiply, and leave opacity at 100%. If you like, you can mess around with different layer settings on this, they give different and neat effects, but I like the multiply best

Finally, I added some simple text using the font "henry morgan" from Pirate Fonts to end up with the final product:



And there you have it! Very easy. Hope I did good ;)
