Patterned borders?
Hey, I saw a lot of people using border brushes. But since I've got so much brushes on my hard drive already, I thought of experimenting and found a way to make patterned borders without installing anything in PSP 9!
Er, I'm not sure if a lot of people already know this. But anyway, remember this?
I thought it looked so dull so I decided to spice it up a bit by adding a border.
like this--
I simply used an image. I found this from google images--
I converted it to grayscale so I wouldn't have a problem with the blending. Sneaky me.
Now I have the image I want to use as a pattern open. I switched back to the icon in progress then clicked on the foreground then the pattern tab. You will see images you currently have open among the default patterns then just set that image as a pattern. I did the same for the background
Then I just take my square brush, size 10 and just clicked all the way around the icon so I would have a solid border. For this one, I had to set it to hard light so it would stand out a bit.
That's just it. Now you can do whatever extraordinary stuff you icon people do.
Oops, btw you might want to check this offsite
tutorial. It's pretty easy to follow and may be useful to icon making. See the color haze in this photo?
