Capping for Mini-Movies

I checked the memories under PowerDVD and Mini-Movies but found nothing. I want to make mini-movies from an .avi file I have, but I have no clue how to screencap from it. (I know how to take regular screencaps, just not really fast so the frames move together.)

I know that with IR and AS you can just open up the file and select which frames, but every time I try to open it up in IR it tells me something Quicktime-related is missing. I don't want to have to bother with that, and I'm not sure if I know exactly where my PSP/AS disc is so that I can re-install it. I was just wondering if there's any way to cap it directly from PowerDVD? I have their free trial, and I know I read it's only supposed to go up to a half hour, but I guess 'cause it's an .avi or something it's letting me see the whole thing.

So, can anyone help? I'm hoping I'm not being too confusing, lol. If it's impossible, then could someone help me out with the Quicktime thing? If needed I could take a screencap of the screen so you can see what the error message says.
