Yet another horribly simple tut for PS

I'm all crazed out with the new Star Wars ROTS, and can't wait for it to come out, so i keep myself busy while waiting for it by making icons. Today we will be making this Image hosted by Photobucket.com from this Image hosted by Photobucket.com

Okay, firstly, i used this SW ROTS poster picture, of course it's a lot bigger in original but i didn't want to post souch a big picture out of pracvtical reasons, altho if anyone needs it i'm willing to...

the pic is way too dark, so all i did was duplicate the layer and screened it at opacity 50%

i then cropped it and resized

sharpened it once, and blurred the pixelated edges and hhis face to make a porcelain effect

then, cause i already had a great picture, i didn't mess with colors and stuff, i just added this border Image hosted by Photobucket.com i dunno where i got from if anyone does knwo tho let me know

and got this

after that i added text, the font i used for "see you at the" is Violation and for "BITTER END" is Arial, i messed with blending of both layers and played with the opacity and added some glow in color i got brom the background of the pic, and the glow layer is set to COLOR BURN (i find this to be very usefull, especially combined with other kind of blendings, and i always do this on my icons)

and, voila, i got this:

see...it's not hard at all, plus shows how some pix are already made for making icons, and don't need any kind of color modifications

i hope you guys find this useful, let me know what you got from it
