Not another simple icon tutorial
We'll go from this
to this
in PSP 9
Having a slight case of writer's block so I went back icon-making in PSP. Again, just a bunch of easy steps but not much images. The textures you'll need are in here.
So here we go:
Step One- Prepare your base. I got mine of Harry. Add a new layer and fill with color #400000. Lighten at 60 opacity.
Step two- Paste this starry texture
as a new layer that I made out of a google image. Set it a 60 opacity to screeb. If you want to use it for your own icons later, go ahead. No need to credit me then cause I didn't make the original.
Step three- New layer and fill with a fading white foreground from your default gradients. Starting from top erase the gradient part just after harry's hairline so that the light only falls on his face ( see finished icon).
Step four- Set this texture from
blimey_icons at soft light with 34 opacity. Add a new layer for text, borders etc. As for me, I added the text layer later because I had to go eat my lunch.
Step five-Duplicate base and screen at normal 100 opacity.
For the text, I couldn't think of anything creative to say so I just typed "fate". Brush script font, size 5, stroke white (ffffff) and fill c0c0c0. Lighten at 60 opacity.
And that's it. A finished Harry icon. I hope you learned some techniques you can use later. See ya ;)
