frodo/sam icon tutorial
Hey everyone! Today you'll learn how to get the coloring effect for this icon
in PSP8
There will be lots of layers involved in this tutorial, but it's nothing to panic over :).
I'll be using this picture from here

Resize/crop your image into 100x100 and sharpen

Now copy (Ctrl C) and paste over the original background/base and sent the blend mode softlight.
Paste again and set the blend mode to screen.
Paste one more time and set the blend mode to Color Legacy. This is now what I have.

Add a new layer and fill it in with #DFDFBD (it's a creamy beige color) and set the blend mode to softlight.
Now copy the base/background layer and paste it over the top layer and set the blend mode to softlight.

**Now this is the really fun part. Here you'll have many options for blend modes.**
Make a new layer and fill it in with a dark blue....I'll use #0A182C
I choose "Lighten" as my blend mode and this is what I have:

You can choose between lighten, screen, overlay, hardlight, softlight, dodge, and exlusion and you'll have a color effect that you should end up liking.
**And feel free to add another dark blue layer and set it to whatever blend mode you like :D**
Now I add the selection border and text and this is what I have!

For this icon instead of using "Lighten" I used "softlight" as my blending mode :).

That's it! Enjoy!
