Emma Watson -- Valiant

*** USING PSP 9, PROBABLY EASILY TRANSFERRABLE TO OTHER PROGRAMS ***

We'll be turning this:   into this:

** IMAGE HEAVY **

First we have our base:

It was a hi-res photo, I cropped and re-sized to 100x100. (Yes, old photo, I'm dying for Em to go to a new event.)

I duplicate the base (Layers >> Duplicate) [leave this layer on
NORMAL] and then go to Adjust >> Brightness and Contrast >>
Brightness / Contrast. Set Brighness to -24 and Contrast to 0.

Now you have this:

Merge your layers (Layers >> Merge All)

Duplicate your base and set this layer to OVERLAY. Merge the layers.

Your base looks like this:

Make a new layer. (Layers >> New Raster Layer). Set this to EXCLUSION. (Leave opacity at 100.)

Flood-fill with #00103c (flood-fill settings are 100 Exclusion)

Image looks like this:

Copy this image and add it in as a new layer. (Edit >> Paste >> Paste as New Layer)

*** I MADE THIS MYSELF SO IF YOU EVER USE IT AGAIN, CREDIT ME!!! ***

Set this layer to SCREEN. (Opacity 100.)

You have this:

Copy this image and add it in as a new layer. (Edit >> Paste >> Paste as New Layer)

Once again, I made it myself...

Set the layer to Saturation (Legacy) and 50 Opacity.

Image looks like this:

Make a new layer, set to hard-light 88. Flood-fill it (hard-light 100) with this gradient by paperdolldesign.

It originally looks like this:

We rotate it 33 degrees so it looks like this:

FLOOD-FILL WITH THE ROTATED GRADIENT!!!

Now your image looks like this:

Duplicate your BASE and drag this layer to the way top (so it's the topmost layer). Set it to OVERLAY 100.

Image looks like this:

Okay. I had this image:
by wickedripeplum

I re-size it to 200x200.

Now copy this image and add it in as a new layer. (Edit >> Paste >> Paste as New Layer). Set it to Overlay at 40.

I move it around and all that, but I can't show you how because I did
it and forgot to write this step in so it wouldn't be the same... (Just
figure it out yourself. All you want is the green-yellow parts.
Preferrably, use the part where there's a lighter yellow part.
Somewhere like here: )

Image looks like this:

Copy this image and add it in as a new layer. (Edit >> Paste >> Paste as New Layer)

SOMEONE TELL ME IF YOU KNOW WHO MADE IT
BECAUSE I SUCK AT ARCHIVING AND I FORGOT!!!

Anyway. Set this layer to Color (Legacy) at 64 opacity.

You have this:

Copy this image and add it in as a new layer. (Edit >> Paste >> Paste as New Layer)

* made by the same person from above... someone give me a username to credit, please!

Set this layer to Burn at 100.

You have this:

Make a new Vector Layer (Layers >> New Vector Layer). Set it to Overlay.

Click your text icon. Write "valiant" in all CAPS, Arial Black, size
18. The color I used is black but since it's on overlay, it doesn't
really matter. (Maybe it does, I was too lazy to try different colors.
Edit: yes, it does, so put your foreground and background colors to
#000000.) Position the text in the bottom center, so part of the "V"
and "T" are hidden on the edges. Also, position it so that part of the
letters are hidden at the bottom as well.

Like so...

Merge all layers, and you're done!

This is what your layers palette should look like (re-named so you can check with it...)

Reminders:

1) If anyone knows, please tell me who made those stuff up there so I can credit!

2) Don't copy this tut exactly!

3) Please don't steal this icon :)

4) I'd love to see what you make by using this tut as a guide!

5) Feel free to ask questions, and I'll try and answer the best I can!
