Color Tutorial
First blend your two images in a regular side.
Set a new layer to SCREEN filled with this gradient
made by:

Since I like to make my cropping even, I cropped mine to 398x398 then resized it to 98x98.
Set a new layer to SOFT LIGHT filled with #000000.
Go to Adjust>> Hue and Saturation>>Hue/Saturation/Lightness, -39 saturation and 0 lightness.
Go to Adjust>> Brightness and Contrast>>Automatic Contrast Enhancement, Lighter, Mild and Bold should all be selected.
And you come out with:
