Tutorial 02; exclusion and brushes

Using Photoshop 7, image heavy.
1. We'll start with this base of Klaus Baudelaire (it's already been cleared up etc.):

2. Duplicate the base, set it to Color on 54% opacity.

3. Duplicate the base and set to Multiply. Then take a soft round brush size 15 and erase the parts of the icon you don't want so dark. When you're finished, duplicate that layer.
Duplicate the base, set it to 27% opacity, Brightness: -24 and Contrast: +68.

4. New layer, set to Exclusion and fill with #001535.

5. New layer set to Overlay, this border in #223553 [forgot whose it is, please tell me if it's yours]:

Another new layer set to Overlay, this border in #223553 [forgot, I only know it's from the same person as the first border]:

And you get this:

6. Time for text. Klaus, Arial Black, size 9, layer set to Overlay, #223553. Then go to Edit -> Transform -> Scale, and rotate it however you'd like.

7. Take this brush by
jeweledicecream in #223553 and set it to Overlay:

8. New layer, set to Overlay, tiny text brush by

And voila!
