Exclusion layer tips & examples
I don't know if I should call this a tutorial or not, because I don't explain how to make a specific icon. Instead, I more or less explain a technique that can be used in icons (or any graphics, really). Anyway, it's about exclusion layers.
I use PSP 7, but I try to explain everything in general terms, so I think you could probably do these same things on Photoshop or GIMP as well. However, you will need to have some knowledge on using the layer palette , flood-fill tool and things like that. Otherwise, this whole thing is just gonna be insanely confusing, lol.
Also, I have included pictures, so hopefully that will help illustrate the points I make.
Contrary to popular belief, you can actually use exclusion layers in pretty much all colors (not just navy blue). Different colors will yield different results. There are plenty of examples and different variations HERE at the tutorial in my journal.
