Quick Mod Notes

Hi gang!

Just a few short things.

First of all: as we now have a shiny S2 Layout with a Page Summary very prominently located, I would like to remind you all to use the subject line every time you post, and make it as descriptive as possible. "Looking for help making blends in PSP8" or "Gradient tutorial for PS CS" are good subject lines; "help, I'm confused!" and "Look, I made another tutorial!" are NOT.

Second: Some people have noticed it and some haven't, but I wanted to make the community generally aware that there is a "Textures" category in the memories now. Although I generally resist creating a category for trend-of-the-week, I think texture layers are important enough to merit their own sub-heading. A lot of the posts in that category (there aren't many, yet, because I can't remember where I put some others to cross-reference them) will be cross-referenced under "Effects" and "Layers."

So don't forget: when you're checking the memories, posts may not be where you expect them to be. A problem with getting fonts to shop up in Photoshop isn't going to be under Photoshop, but it will be under "downloads and instatllations" and "text-related." So always remember to check multiple categories, and don't forget to check the FAQ and the tips on how to use the memories. They should make your life easier, especially when you need a fast answer to a problem.

Last, I'd like to remind everyone of one of the cardinal rules here: treat other members with respect, whether you are creating a tutorial for their use, or commenting on a question they've posted. This means respecting newbies who are just trying to learn as well as respecting the time and efforts of people you want to answer your questions. (Hint: saying "please" and "thank you" will go a lot farther than "GIVE ME NOW.") Given that this community has nearly 5500 members (!!) we have an astonishingly low percentage of problem posts, but I like to prevent the problems before they happen, so consider this your friendly mod reminder.

And now, back to the Thesis of Doom: 35% done and due Tuesday. Meep.
