Template Transparency in PS?

Hi, I've been lurking for a while, But only joined today. I Use photoshop cs, and have a question about templates. I've read the tutorials on templates in the memories, and Theres one for selecting a transparency color in PSP..I think it has to do with setting the pallete transparency, or something? anyways, I was wondering how I'd go about that in PS? Thanks in advance.
