Simple Rupert Grint PSP 9 Tut

This has probably been done [several times] before.

We're turning this: into this:

*I'm using PSP 9, but it's probably simple enough to translate

We have this picture. It's of Rupert Grint when he attended An Audience
with Al Murray. The pic was hi-res so I'm not posting it.

1) Let's pretend I have the image in front of me. I crop and I re-size it to 100x100. THIS IS YOUR BASE.

*Note that when using the re-size option, select SMART SIZE.

Your base:

2) We duplicate the base (Layers >> Duplicate)

3) Press Shift + H to open up the Hue/Saturation/Lightness settings. Bring the saturation to -100. Leave the lightness at 0.

4) Set this layer to Soft Light

Your icon looks like this now:

5) Duplicate the BASE again. Set this layer to Burn. De-saturate this one as well.

Your icon looks like this now:

6) Duplicate the base again. Set it to Overlay.

Your icon looks like this now:

7) Make a new NORMAL raster layer. (Layers >> New Raster Layer)

Apply this brush by teh_indy in the color #b5e5f7

The size I used was 50. I stick it near the top-right corner.

Your icon looks like this now:

8) Make a new raster layer. Set it to Exclusion.

9) Flood-fill it with this color: #00103c (Flood-fill is set to EXCLUSION at 100)

Icon looks like this:

10) Create a new vector layer (Layers >> New Vector Layer)

11) I write the text "shy guy" in the color #030566. Font is Times New Roman, kerning is set to 150 and it's size 7 italicized.

12) I rotate it so that it's parallel to Roo's cuff / sleeve / whatever. (The text should go right into his sleeve.)

13) Merge all layers. And you're done! This is what you should have:

This is how your layers palette should be. I re-named everything so you
can check steps easier. (Pics might be wrong, etc. so don't 100% rely
on them.)
