Looking for some PS7 help/info!

Firstly, love this community. Lurked for a while, and joined recently. I've only been using vector based graphics progeys for about a month or so, and new to Photoshop this week (Though I've had it years!). I'm looking forward to trying out some things I pick up from various tutorials posted here.

Before that though I have a few wee questions about Photoshop. I use version 7. Now all but one of these questions I think are going to have super basic answers, so anyone who's been using PS a while should be able to help, and I'll be v. grateful! I did have a look through the memories, and various other tutorials, but they're mostly about effects :)

Questions are under the cut as there are a couple of screenies - I'm bad at explaining sometimes!

Ok lets start with the easier ones!

1. Is there a way to make pixels the default measurement, as it annoys me when it comes up in cm! If so, how?

2. Similarly when you do layer style > stroke can you set a default setting, say 1px and black instead of the 3px and red it always has for me.

3. I know that you can set a fixed size for a rectangle before you draw it, but is there a way you can see what size a rectangle is as you're drawing it? In PSP you can see the current size in pixels as you drag to draw in the status bar at the bottom.

4. How the heck do you draw a rectangle thats outline only! So it has no fill?

5. Nevermind about question 5, I've just answered that one myself!

6. Final question, and maybe the most technical. Is there a way you can make text follow a vector path like this:

I did that using PSP. I've found out where you go in Photoshop to warp and bend text and the like, but didn't know if the facility was there to do something like the above. If there is, is it relatively easy, or should I stick with PSP if I want to do something like that!

Thanks for reading, and hope someone can help :D
