JACK from LOST tutorial
this is my 2nd tutorial, hah. anyways, using this tutorial you can turn plain 'ol Jack from LOST:
to 
1. start with this basic icon, paste it into PS and let's get started!
2. alright, my usual routine, FILTER >> SHARPEN >> SHARPEN.
And that's the first step. Look how SHARP he looks! hahaha, just
kidding.
3. Anyways, let's do this icon a favor, and put on one of my textures on it.
then, change the blend mode to HARD LIGHT, and the opacity 70%
4. Now, make a new layer..and put THIS gradient on there. I can't remember where I got it from! Eeep. Ahh, I feel horrible.
and set the blend mode to HARD LIGHT.
5. Now, select over the whole thing, and EDIT >> COPY MERGED. then, paste it, and set the blend mode to HARD LIGHT.
6. Now...time for some text. Hm...this one, we should have "Jack" on
it. so let's have the font TIMES NEW ROMAN, in BLACK, SIZE 8, CAPS, and
ITALICS. that's what i'm talkin' about. Now, let's put it...hmm...at
the bottom right corner, that'd be good.
7. Now, let's add some text, just put random things around, "JACK" i
put, "i'll be just fine pretending i'm not, i'm far from lonely, and
it's all that i've got.
8. Now, let's add a nice border. This one is less complex. Make a new
layer, and fill it with black. then use the rectangular marquee tool,
make sure the feather is 2px, and delete an inner square. press delete
about 6 times while selected, then flatten the image, and save!
argh, i'm DYING to get LJ premium so i can have more icons. *cries*
anyone willing to..eh...*wink* for more tutorials. hah. i'll still make
some for y'all. if you want me to. =]
